Typical use and limits

Developed as a more stable alternative to type K: silicon in both legs reduces short-range ordering and oxidation drift, so type N holds its calibration better between 800 and 1200 °C. Output is slightly lower than type K, and it needs instruments and extension cable set up for type N.
